Israel Apartheid Week Toronto - March 1st to 8th, 2009
BACKGROUND
Israeli Apartheid Week (IAW) is taking place in more than 40 cities across the globe (the number of cities is growing daily). This year, IAW happens in the wake of Israel's barbaric assault on the people of Gaza. In Toronto, the birthplace of IAW, a full week of lectures, films, and actions will make the point that these latest massacres further confirm the true nature of Israeli Apartheid. The theme for IAW 2009 in Toronto is “Standing United with the People of Gaza”, events will take place at the University of Toronto, Ryerson University and York University. IAW 2009 will continue to build and strengthen the growing Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement at a global level.

Toronto: Support Impact Cleaning Services Workers
Support Impact Cleaning Services Workers
It's time for property owners and managers to adopt Responsible Contractor Policies
Rally and info-picket
Wednesday, January 21st
12:00 noon
480 University Ave
(north-west corner of University and Dundas)
Impact Cleaning Services workers face some of the worst working conditions in Toronto.
Impact operates an elaborate sub-contracting scheme that denies many workers the basic protections of the Employment Standards Act.
In a wealthy city like Toronto no one should have to work under these conditions.
Community organisations and politicians have come together to demand that building owners and managers adopt a Responsible Contracting Policy.
This will help make the lives of all cleaners better by stopping Impact from getting away with its dirty practices.
Join us on Jan. 21st. to demand that companies using Impact adopt the Responsible Contractors Policy.
